For us 6 teams in a double round robin is about perfect (= 10 weeks length).

The only concern that might arise from this is the amount of forfeits this could come with. Our division was de facto decided by the amount of forfeits a single team was able to collect, all the while gathering full reputation points for each and every forfeit. Maybe the rulings on forfeits need another look, but I don't have a solution at hand which doesn't affect the team showing up in a negative way at the moment.

Wow, why? I don't see a single reason to artificially alter the weight class rules for the league.

The only purpose of such a proposal has to be some guys being uncomfortable or unwilling to select a chassis / variant from a limited selection of options allowed. So we simply change the rules just to allow more guys moving within their comfort zone?

The major effect of this would be we're seeing even more meta builds than before and even more niche chassis are relegated for collecting dust. The requirement for thinking out of the box would be diluted.

The amount of viable light mechs is limited for sure - while the heavy section is crowded with excellent choices - so you have to choose from mechs which aren't considered absolut power houses within their weight classes. I started leveling a COM-1D for this purpose, just to open up more variety and possibilities for future drops of ours.

Again - one of the most appealing rules for the MRBC is the limitation of mechs available in each drop an all the implications this comes with on different levels.

Softening this up only means the we are moving a bit closer to other leagues, but which also means leagues are more exchangable. Because of this we are absolutely against such a rule change. League play should be demanding on different levels, and carefully planning your drop decks and strategy because of limited choices certainly belongs to this area.

This probably was one of the most intense matches I ever played. Kudos!
